Angels exist.

She is a Longmont business owner who had a good financial year and wanted to give back.  She called around Longmont that late December looking for a worthy cause.  Most holiday programs had already given out everything they’d amassed.  Then, she called the Y.  “I’ll never forget that phone call,” said our Childcare Director.

“I want to give Christmas to a family who can’t afford it,” she’d exclaimed.  The Y found such a family.  They had struggled with medical issues and job loss that year.  They were barely making enough to feed their family of 6 and knew Christmas was not going to include gifts of any kind.

Days later, her van pulled up to the Y FILLED with gifts for not only those 4 children, but other families who might be struggling.  As Y staff helped her unload the colorful packages, a quiet moment of tear-filled appreciation and warmth took place in our lobby.  And an angel got her wings.

Your donation to the Y helps us make a difference.
