The Longmont Y's MEND program has been featured in the 2012 Boulder County Business Review Medical and Wellness Directory! View the article here and see for yourself how the Longmont Y is moving kids toward a healthier future.
MEND - Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do-it - is a FREE program that educates 7-to 13-year-olds about healthy lifestyle choices. The Colorado Health Foundation and Colorado's Kaiser Permanente sponsor the program in five locations around the state, including the Ed and Ruth Lehman Longmont Y. MEND works directly with children and families, teaching participants how to incorporate healthy diet and exercise into daily life. Ask any medical professional and they'll tell you that MEND helps kids lose weight, build muscle, and strengthen their cardiovascular health. Ask a child or parent participating in MEND, and they'll tell you much more than that! MEND also enables kids to play harder, build confidence, make friends, try new things, and engage their imaginations.
The Longmont Y is proud to be involved in such an incredible program! We extend a resounding "thank you" to Tommy Hersee, Nick Hochwender, Kelly Child, Matt Rottmann, and all those striving to improve the health and lives of children in our community!
